About The House of Norman

The House of Norman is a family of makers, the Norman family. As makers we are driven to problem solve, design, engineer, and create. Making is an expression of what's in our minds and hearts at any given time. Michelangelo said "I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free." For us making is very much this process. It's seeing the creation before you've even started on it. Freeing it from your mind as much as from the materials it's created from. What material is that? It all depends on what's in our vision at the time; wood, leather, foam, fabric, canvas, paint. If we don't have a skill needed to fulfill that vision we learn it. The vision in us will consume us until we free it.

How does this get us to this store? Mostly from giving away our creations to friends and family for years and having them say "You could sell these." We hope that we can share with others the substance of our vision...and cover some of the cost of tools and materials we've spent over the years.

What will you see here? Well that depends on the current vision. It changes over time. At the beginning of this store that means earrings. You can thank my daughter for that, sending me pics of some earrings she saw that she thought I could make...right before Christmas. You know in case I need gift ideas for her. Once the vision was in my head I couldn't just make one pair. So here we are.
